I'm gay yet I'm not a faggot. If fags stop acting like a bunch of stereotypical queer faggots then maybe there they'll earn respect

It's like what they say, you have the right to be whoever you want and act however you want and other people have the right to mock you for it

Well mocking ppl is bad. It's like that other cliché thing people say, you have the right to free speech but you're responsible for the consequences of what you say. Someone could possibly beat you up or murder you for mocking them

And someone could possibly murder you or beat you up for attempting to murder or beat someone up for mocking you

And then you gotta go to jail for murdering that person you mocked, all that drama could have been avoided if you just left them alone and minded your own business

Nah, either grow thicker skin or just fight people mocking you. Don't expect the world to treat you nicely because you're different.

How about not expecting everyone to conform to a singular idea of what's "normal" instead? Seems like that would be much better for humanity than telling people not to be different if they can't handle being insulted by no-life losers.

What Cid said, it's not the world making a conscious decision to fuck with someone, it's each individual person who has a mind of their own and has the option to not be a shithead but chooses to be a shithead for god knows what reason. We each have the option to act like regular adults and that means minding our own business and not being shitheads to random people

I once had somebody tell me that it was "unrealistic" to expect most people to be courteous towards others.

Like legitimately, I was told that it was unrealistic for me expect most people to behave decently. lol

Nobody should have to worry about your average Joe giving them trouble, we're all just trying to get by

That somebody was right. They were describing the world as it is, not as it should be. Humans are selfish creatures by nature; it is for this very reason that even people championing noble causes oft champion them for ignoble reasons, such as re-Tweets.

Never mind cultural decay as a whole. Human sacrifices are no longer "in" -- but basic etiquette isn't either.

I, too, live in a fairy land where mean people don't exist and nobody has to work and life is great for everyone.

This is really one of the most hypocritical stances a single person can take. Saying "hey guys, don't be mean, just let people be people" whilst remaining morally consistent presupposes that you have never mocked anyone in your entire life.

Nah. I get that people are assholes, but we (or most of us) live in a civilized society. You don't get to go to school and be a jackass to other kids, you don't get to go to work and then refuse to work with the black employee. In civilized society, we have expectations for how people should behave in a public setting. The anonymity of the internet is to blame for that particular degradation. People have grown up in an age where they can go online and act like shitheads with relative immunity to the consequences and expect to be able to behave in the same manner offline.

I hold people to a higher standard. We all should.

I've maybe mocked someone when I was a kid because my brain wasn't fully developed. Now it is (for the most part) and I make every conscious decision to be polite and boring. I'm very out of the way and invisible irl

They got pretty upset when I slapped them with my dick. Like, I can't expect other people to behave decently but I have to? Double standards.

Were you homeschooled...? Bullies have existed since time immemorial and even ignoring "outliers" like them, friends turning on friends to hold onto something as fleeting as popularity in school is nothing new. So you can imagine what good little boys and girls would be capable of doing to a perfect stranger or, better yet, someone they actively dislike.

As far as people not being utter cunt-waffles at work is concerned, it's apples and oranges. Even if they're secretly hanging a Klan hood on their hat rack, they have to suck it up if they want that paycheck. Never mind that adults are actually susceptible to legal retribution. Can't exactly get away with a slap on the wrist if you call someone a "darkie" offline as a grown man like you would have at age 10.

That "higher standard" is obsolete when memes, video games, anime, and porn have desensitized this sorry species to the point that nothing fazes us. Well, aside from people disagreeing with our beliefs. ;(
