It’s true that Conservatives-mostly Religious Conservatives-want to defend Christmas too much for their own good. I find “the war on Christmas” stupid too.

        That being said...

...When will the Left stop perpetuating the myth of a million genders with the threat of mob rage behind it?

        I really am curious...

In terms of actual news, tho, Trump is trying to make the shutdown out to be something that would require the declaration of “a national emergence.”

I slightly understand, but don’t support this.

It’s ridiculous that even after 2 major concessions in regards to the wall (first an improved DACA, then a reduction in the nature of the wall from solid concrete to just steel) that the Dems can’t bother to say “sure.” And I think he even made a concession on the funding, but I’m not sure.

At that point, you should just give in. If not because it’s good, then only because it’ll be a relatively small dent in the budget, and the proposed funding won’t even reach 1% of the federal budget, but in exchange we’ll escape this deadlock and focus on other things, immigration-related topics included. And if the opposition is not gonna give in, and if you REALLY want that wall, you kind of need to try and force your way through the barrier, unless you just give up and focus on other things (and Trump is stubborn about this thing, he’s determined to get some sort of barrier).

On the other hand, it’s still stupid to declare an emergency.

The border’s quiet (the caravan’s gone), it’s only a dispute over funding, and there are other ways to try and make a case for the wall. Far from an emergency.

So it just screams of dictatorial tendencies, and we already have enough “Donald Trump is literally Hitler”-tier rhetoric from the news (I called him a Fascist some time ago, but upon reflection, I was mistaken).

It's pretty ridiculous. At least the bulk of Hillary supporters could take some criticism. You criticize Donald Trump around a republican and they squeal like you shot them in the ass. This morning I posted on a thing on facebook about Melania asking for prayers for her husband. Said she was probably doing it because she knew he was about to be locked up. And these motherfuckers are like "don't be ugly." lmao. Like they're not the ones that were chanting "lock her up" like inbred retards every time Hillary was even mentioned. lol

              Conservatives are the real snowflakes.

Nah. If Trump wants to drag his shutdown out, then Dems should let him. We're not supposed to pay for the wall, Mexico is. That was the campaign promise, those were the terms Trump set up. A huge percentage of my tax dollars are already wasted by the federal government, I don't want to throw my hard earned income into a money pit and neither does the majority of Americans.

The wall will be ineffective, expensive to build, expensive to maintain, and is completely unnecessary. Fuck the wall. If democrats don't fight it, they deserve to lose the next election. This is Trump's shutdown, let him face the repercussions of acting like a spoiled brat.

Exactly, if you are one of the people who is out or work because of this now you know who not to vote for next time.

Even Trump knows who's at fault for the shutdown.

What makes all this *even* more amazing is that a ¡Vete a la mierda, pendejo! was the only foreseeable outcome to anyone with even half a brain.

Guess what? EPN told the idiot to fuck off. And so, presumably, will his successor.

Really? You compare Cortez to a woman accused of killing hundreds in a blood bath ritual and being one of the main inspirations of Dracula which spawned all vampire fiction....

You compare Cortez to that!? Seriously...?

Yeah, lots more tax money dedicated to that wall than any of the other useless or stupid things we spend our money on on a yearly basis, especially after the sale he put on it (5 bill is the funding he's asking for; more and we can just say "That's all you wanted, and that's all you said it would take").

That wall doesn't seem like such an offensive abuse of our tax dollars in exchange for moving on to other things (and getting funding for other things blocked up by this shutdown sooner, too), even things that you probably care about. When the shutdown ends. and the wall isn't funded...

                        ...you guessed it.

Trump's gonna be stubborn up till 2020.

                        Wasting more time for everyone.

The wall will be ineffective, expensive to build, expensive to maintain, and is completely unnecessary.
Then do it...and the effects you just described will mostly only hurt Trump. The cultists on r/The_Donald that never criticize the guy (and can't handle it either) will be happy, but they're pretty small, and overall supporters and people satisfied will probably shrink as the wall's uselessness becomes truly apparent. Hell, Democrats can even state this and we can watch a prediction come true.

"If Trump wants a useless thing that won't work, let him have it. I want to move on to important things."

And when they turn out right, that the wall's just useless, Democrats will have that to their cred, and Trump's claims will be disproved on top of his other contradictions for other things. His main campaign point about illegal immigration was "the wall will fix all of our illegal immigration problems." If that turns out to be bogus, it'll just hurt him more than it will the Democrats. And if it doesn't...

Once the wall stops causing shutdowns, the Dems can turn their attention to other things that are important which, frankly, they've wasted a lot of time on, and which Trump looks a lot more willing to actually cooperate on, if it's my guess. If they'd granted Trump a wall and agreed to the DACA deal Trump proposed, they could have focused primarily on health care and other things for the rest of the time afterward, something that many Americans are much more aligned with Democrats on than with Republicans. Hell, some DACA supporters were actually disappointed with the Dems skimping out on that DACA deal Trump proposed, I think. (And I've even seen a downright Socialistic Leftist say to give Trump the wall and move on to other things).

Paired with that kind of political pay off, the wall's almost an investment for Democrats. About the MOST harmless thing Trump could do, actually, out of all the things he's legitimately done or is accused of. It'll just make him look like more of a dumbass when 2020 comes along, boosting the chances of compensating for the inevitable Democrat mishandling of whatever candidate they choose, because it's obvious at this point that they will...I can't really see them not doing that...

If we spend not even a fraction of 1 percent of our budget on a wall to get us to focus on something else for the rest of the year, that'll just mostly hurt Trump in the mean time.

I'd rather take that investment than more days of...nothing...nothing at all...

Trump wants 5 billion in initial funding with a pledge to give the remaining 15 to 20 billion in the future. Something that democrats will be locked into providing if they give in now. This is also a principal thing. Republicans pulled this exact same shit throughout Obama's terms over the ACA and they forced the democrats to give in then, too. Because republicans are worthless shits that don't give two squirts about the people hurt by their shutdowns. Had Democrats not given in then, the ACA might have been decent, but instead Dems didn't want the government to stay in a lockdown and let the republicans gut the bill, something that ended up driving my healthcare premiums through the roof. So excuse me if I'm of the opinion that I don't care to see republicans costing me even more money other other week.

You're pretty naive if you think it's going to work like that. We already have proof that the wall is a waste of money. The research was done, the numbers were crunched. Something like 70% to 80% of illegal immigrants in the US didn't cross the border on foot. The overwhelming majority (over 60%) are VISA overstays. They got into the country legally and just didn't leave when their visas expired. Of the ones that do come in illegally, about half (or more) come in on boat or in the air. You could seriously have as little as 15% of the illegal population that crossed the border on foot. Yet we want to pour tens of billions of dollars into a vanity project to stop it?

                            Nah fam.

If he gets that damn thing built, it doesn't matter how ineffective it proves, the republican voter base is so goddamn stupid that they will always and forever claim it's the greatest accomplishment of any president to date. And when the immigration propblems keep coming, they'll find another reason to blame it on.

You need to understand that there is only one reason Trump wants the wall. It's his legacy as president. He's going to end up in jail, his entire presidency will be tarnished by unabashed corruption. But at least he'll have something physical on US soil. At least he'll have an accomplishment.

Fuck that. He doesn't deserve it.

Dems didn't waste any time, they just got into power, LOL. Trump is wasting time. The Republicans are wasting time. They had all this power, controlled every branch of government, further cemented their control in the Supreme court and STILL didn't get anything decent done. Unless you count that tax bill which... LOL (is my only retort). Honestly, the longer he keeps pushing that wall the more damage he does to himself and the better case he makes for Dems. Time is against him now. He just needs to give up and move on to something important.

Why would you honestly want him to build a wall to test if it is effective or not? That is retarded. Anyone with half a brain can figure out the wall isn't going to do anything. It didn't work for Germany, it didn't work for China and it certainly won't work for us. A wall isn't going to stop them. They already found a tunnel in the past that the cartel was digging. I'm sure there are others on the way. Seriously it is a dumb and expensive idea. I'm for border security but a wall is not border security! If my house is getting robbed, I'm not going to build a fence around my property to keep the burglars out. I'm going to get alarm systems, dogs, cameras, etc! This fucking wall does nothing for us!

Seriously, the problem here is Trump. To blame the Democrats for Trump's actions is akin to saying "The devil made me do it!". Trump is his own man, he can think for himself and make grown up decisions and his current decision is to be an idiot asshole, whining for a wall he isn't going to get. If the deal master couldn't get his wall when Republicans held all the power he is certainly not going to get it now and he should just stop, just.. bloody stop already.

This. The wall died when dems won the House. Time for republicans to stop beating the dead horse, quit being immature and whiny twats, and do their fucking jobs by funding the government. Republicans need to pass a bipartisan spending bill and get it to Trump's desk and Trump needs to man the fuck up and sign it.

You know what else does nothing for us?

                                ...

                                Nothing.

                                Yes, doing nothing costs us.

                                http://time.com/money/5494004/govern...p-border-wall/

...possibly as much as if not more than the wall as Trump is currently proposing it.

I won’t blame Democrats for the shutdown (JUST them, anyway) and really haven’t (only discussed that saying yes to the damn thing would probably help them more than not), but I can certainly blame them in part for perpetuating it (if either one backed down, it would end, so both are to blame for the perpetuation of the shutdown).

Besides, the Dems have voted for military expenditures well above the 5 bill Trump’s proposed...certainly paying for the wall can’t be any more or less useless than those military affairs...which are also far more offensive than Trump’s wall...

                                  Trump’s stubborn.

                                  It won’t die.

It won’t die as an obstruction for the usual affairs, because Trump doesn’t have the will to let it go.

So they have a choice here...as much as Trump does.

If they can spend money on blowing people up in Libya for years...they can spend money on a wall, or they can help in keeping this going and possibly cost us as much as if the bill for the funds was signed three weeks ago.

                                  ...

                                  Listen...

You can’t tell me that only Trump’s being petty with the wall when he’s basically made several concessions over the last two years and Dems have made, as far I’m concerned, absolutely none, even when Trump proposes to give them what they want and possibly even more so. :/

Never Trump is only so good of a position...

Also, I'm sure you're probably gonna get your knickers ruffled because of my insults to republicans. But every damn time I've ever talked to a republican about how ineffective the wall is, they demand proof. And when I get then credible facts compiled by organizations like PEW Research, the FBI, and the FDA... I get told my sources are biased and not credible. And then the fucking morons cite some godawful site Breitbart or Freedom Liberty Press and tell me that I'm wrong.

                                    So republicans are fucking morons.

Yeah, I get it. Fighting it costs money too. So what? Dems are just supposed to roll over and take it up the ass because the president is a child?

Let the government stay closed. At some point republicans in Congress are going to wash their hands of the man as well and when dems move to impeach, republicans might decide not to fight it.

If they say yes they would be going against the very people that voted them in. So it is not happening, especially not with this new young blood of Dems we got. You are basically telling them to commit political suicide cause it'll help them to... uh... look weak? Appeal to Republicans? Move on to more important things that Trump totally disagrees with them on? lol I just can't...
